Brent Taylor told the boy to unclog the toilet with his hands
A teacher has admitted to ordering an eight-year-old pupil to unclog a toilet with his bare hands. Brent Taylor, a 23-year teaching veteran, was reprimanded by the principal at Scootney Springs Elementary School in the small city of Othello, Washington, after a complaint by a pupil’s parents.
According to Artie and Lisa Adams, Mr Taylor had told their young son to unclog a toilet with his bare hands after he reported a blockage, telling the schoolboy it was ‘nothing I hadn’t done before’.
Mr Taylor reviewed a hygiene course just two months ago
‘The child had flushed the toilet several times, and it didn’t go down,’ said Othello Superintendent George Juarez.
‘I am sure that the best judgement would have been to call our custodian to handle the matter.’
According to the boy’s parents, he was made fun of by classmates after the incident, prompting them to transfer him to a different school. Mr Taylor has been ordered to review a hygiene course – his second in two months – but Mr and Mrs Adams are demanding a more severe punishment for the teacher.
